P1010024_1 As promised in my last post, let's start this one out with a little yarn pron (always good for the oohs and ahhs, no?).  One of my most anticipated packages to arrive in the mail was my bounty from Vesper Sock Yarn.  The colors are Knit and Tonic and Muddy Waters.  Seems like I'm definitely in my blue/green period.  I'm really looking hard at Knit and Tonic to become the Monkey socks by the very talented Cookie A., which I've been dying to make, so it will be wound before you know it and slipped in my Lexie Barnes knitting bag that I use for my smaller projects.

P1010033 Then I received such a nice surprise in the mail!  Jacque at This Kitten Knits drew my name for a prize, and a prize indeed it was!  Just when I was at my lowest point in the week (don't ask), along comes this beautiful Trendsetter Yarns Aquarius in muted tones of wine, taupe, and burnt gold colors.  Very rich looking.  And to top it off, stitch markers in purlescent lavendar with kitties on them!  I could have cried.  Thank you so much, Jacque.  You'd have thought she's known me forever by picking out what she did.  In fact, she did a better job than people I've known for years, whose names will not be divulged to protect the guilty innocent.

P1010042 And on the knitting front, there has been a lot of stockinette going on here in tweedy goodness.  Katie's back will probably be finished by the end of the weekend.  Sometimes something simple is just what the doctor ordered.  And, yeah, Winnie's a yarn sniffer, too.  I actually think she's looking for Jared.

P1010002_2 There probably won't be a lot of chat today.  Just wanted to show you a completed Shifting Sands.  Grumperina created a lovely pattern, and I learned how to cable without a cable needle.  I ended up using three skeins of Misti Alpaca Sport, including fringe, and it's plenty long.

I looked at my FOs for this year and last year, and there seems to be quite a lot of scarves, so I think I've got enough for a while.  What with the blog and all, sometimes I feel some pressure to produce, although it's self-imposed pressure at that.  I hope to be making lots more socks, and I'll show off some yarn pron in my next post.

P1010018_2 I've started Katie from Rowan's A Season's Tale this weekend and I'm really liking the Rowanspun DK, so much so that I'm eyeing some right now on Ebay.  It will be a quick knit, I think, and the flecks of color are wonderful in it.  Talk about getting on the Rowanspun bandwagon late, it's almost nonexistent out there, but I might luck into some.  There's just something about Rowan yarns and patterns that get me excited about knitting a little more than anything else.

Well, I stayed up way too late this weekend and I'm kind of fatigued, so I'll sign off for now.  Happy knitting!

P1010012_2This is my next project, Katie from Rowan's A Season's Tale.  I've been dying to knit something tweedy AND something out of this book, and this simple zip-up cardigan is calling out to me to become a staple in my wardrobe.  I bought the Rowanspun DK off of ebay about a year ago, having heard cudos about it across blogland, so I want to try it before it becomes totally unobtainable and I won't be able to replenish my stock.

Knitting on Shifting Sands is progressing so slowly due to actually having to work at work this week that I didn't think you'd want a progress picture of it.  Just look at my last post and add about 4 inches and there you are.

P1010016_2 And for all you stash divers abstaining from new purchases, feast your hungry eyes on some Manos in the Stellar colorway.  You see, I "need" it for My So Called Scarf that I'm planning on making in the whenever near future.  The photo is a little blurry due to to much caffiene and very little food intake yet today and probably the need for a better camera.

Now, life is short, go forth and click on that "Buy" button.
